Friday

Yes, believe it or not it is Friday again and this time the date is the 28th of october. Come to think of it this is the only Friday on this given day and will never be back so better make the most of it.
I am sitting at a cafe here in Odense, which is strategitically called Cafe Optimisten and I have a feeling why that name was chosen. This is an extremely cosy place and the coffee I am just about to finish is good. Interior designers would probably not think this place was something that would enter the front pages, but in a weird way I like it. I have this thing with some cafes that they should be a little “worn” and thus have a soul.
Cafe Optimisten is run by some Icelanders, who by convenience live here.

School today was pretty nice and was about E-Procurement...had to look up the word procurement hehe. Anyway, it was fun, yes I know this sounds strange, but the teacher did manage to give this very dry subject some moisture. Hmm not sure I am getting the message through here. Well you get the picture I guess.

I plan to go home shortly and do some cleaning. Maybe I will take a walk downtown and take a look at this cafe again and see if there is some life here.

Tomorrow I will probably be warming the bench at a basketball game. Hope for their sake they will not be needing me much, but I do like to run.

So this is it for now. I will head home and try to make something sensible on the stove...maybe I will make myself a pizza...it is Friday and that means usually pizza on the menu.

Yes, I am off. Thanks to those who read.

Well I need to slightly correct this week thing

I have been contacted by couple of danes, and they have no clue about the weeks, i.e. what number of week it is...unless there is a vacation hehe.

Otherwise, I think I am still allowed to stay in the country and will be looking at danes more closely tomorrow when I will take a walk downtown with my 3 gems.

Yes, time to go to bed now...will read a little in "Nordkraft" pretty good stuff there.

hej, hej,

Stuck in the middle of Autumn vacation.

Hi,

yes it is Wednesday in week 42...the danes are really into this week thing. They remember every date from the week number. Actually not a bad idea really.

Well, I had a party last saturday and well the turnout was pretty low, but most of my classmates did have legitamate excuses, the rest will have to bear their shame forever ;) The party was fun and the guests seemed to like what I put on their dishes. I made chili con carne and chicken quesidillas and some dipping stuff.
We played a lot of music and of course because Mark was there we played "I have never..." We got a lot of trivial information there and well some of it really could have been kept away from the dayligt.

We drank a bit. Beer, tequila, hot and sweet, Icelandic Brennivin, irish coffee...yes that is about it...no I forgot the suspicious looking vodka and cranberry coctail.

Yes, then we went out to a bar called the Boogies and well most of the group stayed there until the Sun and Quasimodo walked hand in hand to greet the day.

Sunday I spent mostly in bed...felt a little off...so the bed was my dear friend ;)

Yesterday, me and Solrun went with the children to Legoland...Last chance to see before the season tickets ran out. It was fun...and we ended in a place, which is a shining emblem of American capitalism, McDonalds...I must admit that the muffin I got there was amaizing.

Today I have been trying to study...and well could have done better, but I am though getting there.

Yes, some pics will follow later.

all the best

Friday again and a week vacation.

Yes it is friday...thank God it is friday.

I am sitting in the "friday bar" where students here in SDU get together and fill their bodies with beer. Consumption is something a teenager would be proud of.

I was a bit personal in my last blog entry, but I write what I want and have nothing to hide. Maybe one of my worst qualities, but hey that is how I am. If you do not like it read something else.

next week we will have an autumn vacation. That is always the case in the 42nd week of the year...danish tradition I think and I like it alot.
The week will though not be a vacation for me because I am somewhat behind in my reading and intend to pick some of it up. I have spoken to several classmates and they seem to be on similar level as I am. The reading material is really big and quite frankly I am not sure some of the teachers would be able to read it in the short amount of time we are given, but hey this is just what academic life is all about.

Anyway, I am about to go home and do some house cleaning and figure out what my psycho friends from class want to eat and how much...did I say psycho...Freudian slip of my fingers, but I am sure I will be forgiven.

Yes, that is about it...see you later,

Life gauge

Being single again does have its benefits. I am a single person 2/3s of the month and well sometimes it is so nice. I am sitting here outside the art museum Brandts Klædefabrik with a cup of coffee I got for a very fair price at 7/11 and well it is not the best coffee in the world but it is cheap. The weather is so nice and a little breeze caresses my face. I was a little depressed yesterday and felt really alone. I feel like I am stuck in a state of Status quo and those of you who know the music from the band with very same name know probably what I mean ;) I have been so wanting to meet someone and just feel that I am wanted. Probably what every person wants. After a long and very enjoyable chat with on of my closest friends I felt better and feel I am ready to move on. The divorce, even though I am sure it was a correct move for me and Solrun, has nevertherless made me feel so vulnerable and my self esteem has been low. I learned a new philosophy or a way to tackle life from my friend and that is to remember not to "force things" but rather let the course run naturally. This is of course easier said then done, but a very important viewpoint on life. It has taken me a long time to get to this point and the path has been one with highs and lows. After 10 years of relationship with the same person it is not easy to go back to "default" settings. This has been my task for the last 6 months. It has been at some cost, because I have had problems with concentating in my studies. I have though been extremely lucky with my group mates, who have shown understanding. I intend to pay back in abundance.
Next weekend I will invite my friends from school to a housewarming and am looking forward to it. It might be said that it is a some sort of a starting point for me. Inviting people to my new home, where I have all the things how I want them. Not that it was a huge problem before, but this is something that is mine and mine alone. Of course my apartment does show that I am not the worlds richest man, but I am nevertheless proud of what I have done so far.

The next couple of monthes will be very busy, but I am looking forward to them and I am going to be working with very interesting assignments. Furthermore, those assignements are "real" not just like any other school assignments, but with a foothold in reallife.

I have learned yet again how much friends mean to me and have so many and I want to thank them all for being there at some point or another.

Until next,

Arnar Thor

Angst

Yes, well here I go again. Tomorrow I will sit couple of lectures regarding the 4th semester or my masters thesis(speciale). I have to admit I am not comfortable with this, because I am not sure what I want to look at. Hope tomorrow will help, well that is the point...I think.

Had a really nice weekend. One of my friends in Iceland, Sif, came for a visit. She is studying at CBS in Copenhagen and dropped to the marcipan and adventuretown of Odense for couple of nights. We had fun.

Yesterday I went to the movies and saw Charlie and the ChocolateFactory and well highly recommend it. Fun to watch and well I was impressed with Johnny Depp. I always liked him as an actor, and he did not do any damage to that in this movie.
I am also a fan of Tim Burton's stuff.

Today I spent the day nursing my daughter...well not much nurshing, but she was at home because of a stomach ache.

This is about it. Hit the pillow now and try to dream of a problem statement :)

until next time take care,

Arnar Thor
