Back from a long blog draught.

Hello again,

I am back to this place. I decided to take a long rest from the blog. I just did not have any need or desire to blog.

I have started working now. I am a temp at a place called Harald Nyborg, which is a catalog company. They, that is the people working there I take it Harald himself is resting, send couple of times a year a largish brochure with all kinds of products for sale. I am in the packing department and pack "larger" orders, which basically means products heavier then 30 kilograms, I leave it to US readers to calculate that in lbs.
The workplace is actually really nice. The work itself is ok since this is just temporary. My fellow colleagues come in all shapes and sizes. I here mean both mentally as physically. Some are more interesting then others. One of my favorites is a chinese guy, who by no means can say my name without saying "donkey" in plural...that is in Icelandic: "Asnar" (for those of you who do not know then my name is "Arnar"). I tried to correct him, but poor fellow is still calling me in plural. At least he has now mastered an icelandic word though without knowing what it means.
I work from 7 to 15, which is fantastic working hours. This means I have to get up a little bit earlier then Quasimodo and I sometimes pass him on my way to work. I bike to work, when I do not have the kids and Solrun's car.
It is soooo good to get up this early and bike. Yes, coming from me the master of nightlight, this sounds strange.

Now, I am sitting at home and listening to Icelandic radio over the Internet. It reminds me of when I was living in Germany way too many years ago in 1991. Then the only possible connection to Iceland, was either through telephone or bottle messages. Since I was pretty much inland in Germany the bottle idea was troublesome. I instead was allowed to call about once every other week and wrote approx one letter per day. I do miss that. Sitting at a café with a nice cup of coffee and perhaps a little heartwarming liquid on the side and just write my thoughts to the poor victim, whos name was on the envelope.
Now the possibilities of keeping in touch are so much more that you actually risk having nothing to say when you finally meet your friends face to face. Luckily I was born with the handicap of not keeping quiet for long.

Quitting now. Thank you for reading this. A little status report: I am still alive, fairly in shape, single father of three and occasionally open a bottle of red.

Take care!!!
