Friday again.

It seems like it is only a week since we had friday and now it sneeks up behind us again.

Not sure what I will do this weekend, but I will probably have a look at Odense after dark.

Well, I really have nothing to say.

until next time,

My group were over at my place yesterday, where we tried to write the final...well the whole bit of the assignment to be delivered the day after. Posted by Picasa

Garlic and business intelligens.

Today I stink of garlic. That is my classmates opinion. This only goes to show how little he has advanced compared to the rest of us. He likes the taste, but not the smell. Well, for an Icelander that is quite normal. Smell and taste are not always related. He just had a trip again. Oh, yes, I am sitting in business intelligens class at the moment and my classmate, Rikki, is next to me. Garlic is not his cup of tea.

The lecture we have today is basically a 2 weeks material crammed together to a single friday, 8 hours in a row. I can safely assume that most of us here were not prepared for the lecture, simply because we have been working on an assignment this week. I was in now way prepared for class, but have though managed to pick up a thing or two. When our lecturer started talking statistic that is when my thoughts drifted away and I logged on this blogsite.

Tonight I will have a pizzaparty with my kids and then I will be giving them some ice cream, because for one thing they are the best.

Anyway, I have to quit now. I think the teacher is on to me thinking either "wow he is taking fantastic notes on that laptop" or "man, is he back to his messenger".
So, I put the dot her.

Have a nice friday all of you.

Posh Nosh

Hi,

Now and then I take a peek at BBC Food. I saw there the other day a complete genius of a show: Posh Nosh. Brittish cooking/comedyshow on extraordinary food for ordinary people. Here you will find an interview with the hosts of the show. Simon, i.e. Richard E. Grant, who was unforgettable in the movie Hudson Hawk had an even more unforgettable line in one of the shows, while sipping on a Riesling white wine:"Riesling like schoolboys should be enjoyed young".
Pure genius.

Please take a look at the interview. You will not regret it.
Brit humor or humour is the best.

until later,

Monday, monday, monday

Hi,

Well, I had fun, fun and some fun this weekend. Went to a great party on friday with students from the first year. I had way to much influence at times on the songs played, but hey I have good taste. After the party, which was by the way held in our class room, we went downtown. We, me Bjarke and Marcus took a taxi downtown. We were so lucky that in the taxi with us was a guy called Uffe. He probably gets more student loan then the rest of us, because he paid for the cab fare and we have not seen him since.
We went to several places and around 5 in the morning we had emptied our batteries. I had the marvelous idea of buying a pizza and went home. At home I even got a better idea and decided to watch a film. I mean the clock was only 5:39 in the morning. Well, I completely fell asleep, but the pizza did manage to find its way to my intestines. Good for her.

Saturday was nice. I did not have a hangover and had a nice day. I took a night on the town as well, but was "stille og rolig". Saw some live music on Cafe Oscar and went home pretty early.

On Sunday I baked bread :) with a little help from "out of the box". Solrun came over with our kids and I went to the bakery and bought icelandic "snails", which is a really good cinnamon thing with chokolate on top.

Tonight I went to the movies and saw a danish film Drabet. Really good acting, but I sometimes felt the director was not sure how to end some of the scenes or the movie itself for that matter.
I went with a good friend of mine, Dorte, who is my ex neighbour from Birkelunddalen. We had a good time and I look forward to do this again.

Well, tomorrow Alexander will go for a tour with his classmates. They will be overnight on Vigelsö and he cant wait. I will be seeing him off and then cycle to school to meet my teammates who also can not wait to tackle this weeks assignment.

Anyway, see you later,

Friday!!!

Hi,

I know I should not be doing this, but hey I am a grown up. So I am writing this entry in class. The teacher is actually very lively and manages to "connect" with us. The course is called Organization and management (roughly translated from Danish).

Yesterday was a complete failure in my study. I sat the whole day and simply did not connect with the subject. I did spend a little to much time on instant messaging. I have so many great friends all over, who I can never get tired off. Hope they are not getting tired of me. After the divorce my need for communication with other entities, preferably of the Homo sapiens sapiens species, has been enormous.

These days I am really interested in old stereo amplifiers. I, well with some help, have bid for an old Harman Kardon amp located somewhere in the US, on Ebay. I have no idea what will happen, but the stakes are not high so this is more for fun.

Well, I think I have emptied my "well" for now. I will be jotting down something when I have something "important" to say. Not that I expect to solve anything here. This is more of an outlet for me. If anyone of you enjoys my dribble, then I am happy.

see you later,

Arnar Thor

ps: party tonight.

Headache and healing

Hello my fellow oxygen inhalers,

I woke up this morning with a terrible headache and had tried number of ways to "cure" myself. Well, I went to the caffeteria here in the Uni and bought a cup of sweetened Cappuchino and a sponge cake. Lo and behold I am cured. This only goes to show the healing power of sugar. The propaganders against sugar must reconsider :)

Well, I am stuck in the Uni at the moment trying to figure out why on earth the words in the book in front of me do not make coherent sentences in my head.

Tomorrow looks like to be a fine day. We will have a lecture on organisation and management and then right after we will go to the "friday bar", which is a wonderful tradition. There we get really cheap beer and I mean cheap. Actually, comming from Iceland everything seems to be cheap, except electricity and water of course.

Well I will call it quits for now. Maybe I will drop couple of pictures to this site shortly.

bye for now,

Arnar Thor

Data mining

Hello again,

I am now in school. The course today is Business intelligence, which basically teacher data mining. This looks like a very practical course even though it could be a little teadious.

The teacher is the one I contacted in the beginning, when i was looking for information on the www.itko.dk program or Cand.IT or masters degree in information technology communication and organisation. A huge title but well what does it really mean. That is something I will find out when I graduate, but hardly sooner.

Well, until next time.

Arnar Thor in English

Yes, I finally did it. I am now also available in English. Mind the spelling.
Anyway, I do have friends outside Iceland and they seem to have somewhat lesser experience in Icelandic then expected. Funny because there are small children that can speak the language.
So I gave in and this is the first blog post.

Will be trying to keep this in pace with the Icelandic version, but sometimes things are more easily written in English and vice versa.

until next time,

Arnar Thor
